The invention relates to the field of hair curlers, in particular to a hair curler and a hair straightener which have a universal handle and can be interchanged with other types of curling devices.

The purpose of this article is to provide a curling or straightening device that can be detachably connected to a handle with a power source. The device consists of two heated metal plates fixed in spring clamps. The shapes of the two metal plates match each other, and they can be used on both sides, and electrical energy can be obtained from the power supply in either of the two positions. In one of the positions, the corrugations on the surface of the metal plates are staggered to form a hair curling plate, and in the other position, the two metal plates are facing each other with their main surfaces opposite to each other and used as a hair straightener.
Slide each metal plate into the position of the corresponding half of the spring clamp. After being in place, one or two of the metal plates are connected to the power supply, so that the heating elements in the metal plates are operated. There are guide grooves in the two half-clamps, and the metal plate has guide rails that move in the guide grooves. The guide rails are arranged along the side of the metal plate, and their positions are arranged so that the guide grooves can still be used after the metal plate is turned over, and are connected to the power supply. The curling straightener 1 is designed to be foldable and assembled with the handle 3 with a power source. The curling iron 1 and the handle 3 can be assembled in any known manner. The hair curler consists of an upper half clamp 5 and a lower half clamp 7, which are fixed at the pivot 9 in a relatively rotatable manner. The upper and lower halves of the clamp are made of molded plastic. Each half-clip contains an aluminum metal plate, and the upper half-clip 5 has an upper metal plate 11, one surface of which is a zigzag curling surface 12, and the other side is a flat straight hair surface. The lower half clip 7 is provided with a lower metal plate 15 with a curling surface 16 on one side and a flat surface 17 on the other side.

The metal plates 11 and 15 are reversible in their respective halves 5 and 7. In this way, when the curling surfaces 12 and 16 of the metal plate are opposed to each other (see Figures 5 and 7), it can be used to curl hair; and when the flat surfaces 13 and 11 are opposed to each other (Figure 13), it can be used to straighten the hair hair. The shape of the two curling faces is such that when they are facing each other, their corrugated shapes match each other (see Figures 5 and 7).
The upper half of the clip 5 has a universal arm 19 for opening the spring clip. Spring 21 (see Figure 6) acts on it with elastic force to close it. Pressing the arm 19 causes the half-clamps 5 and 7 to rotate around the pivot 9 to open, so that the hair can be put between the metal plates 11 and 15 or taken out of the hair.
The feature of the present invention is that it has some components that enable the upper metal plate 11 to be reversibly installed in the upper half clamp 5 and the lower metal plate 15 to be reversibly installed in the lower half clamp 7. Each metal plate 15 has a pair of side rails, one on each side of the metal plate. Thus, the upper metal plate 11 has a pair of guide rails 37 and the lower metal plate 15 has a pair of guide rails 41 (see FIGS. 4, 7 and 9). The guide rail protrudes from each side of the metal plate and is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the metal plate. The guide rails 37 are assembled in the grooves of the metal plate 11 and fixed in place with screws (Figure 9). Each guide rail 37 has a spring latch 38 near the center thereof, and the latch is pressed into a notch 39 on the guide groove 31, so that the guide rail is clamped in the position of the guide groove. In this way, the metal plate 11 can be taken out from the upper half clamp by moving the metal plate 11 outward in the longitudinal direction. Turn it over so that the flat surface 13 replaces the curly hair surface 12 and is placed outwards to straighten the hair; and vice versa.

The situation of the lower metal plate 15 is similar, with the guide rail 41 and the spring latch 42 pressed in the notch 43 on the guide groove 33, and it has the same turning characteristics as the upper metal plate 11.
It should be noted that the positions of the guide rails relative to the respective guide grooves are set in such a way that no matter whether a curling surface or a flat surface is used, when the two half-clamps are closed, the surfaces of the two metal plates contact each other.
If desired, other forms of surface structure can be used instead of curly sides and flat surfaces. However, these structures should be matched with each other after assembly.
At least one of the two metal plates has heating element 59. In FIG. 8, the heating element is arranged in the lower metal plate 7, and is connected to the socket member 57 on the lower half of the clamp through an electric plug 55. Next, the jack 57 is connected to the power source (not shown in the figure) in the handle 3. The plug 55 is arranged with respect to the shake hole 57 so that no matter which side of the metal plate 15 is used, they can be plugged into each other. When only one metal plate has a heating element, the other metal plate is heated by heat conduction.
The cross-sectional view shown in FIG. 9 shows the end piece 36 fixed to the end of the metal plate 11 with screws. It is usually an injection molded part, the surface of which has a structure consistent with the shape of the upper metal plate surfaces 12 and 13, and the lower metal plate 15 has a similar end piece 45 (Figure 12).
In order to use this curling-hair straightening device, slide the metal plates into their respective half clips. The curling surfaces 12 and 16 may be opposed to each other in the manner shown in FIGS. 5 and 7, or the flat surfaces 13 and 17 may be opposed to each other as shown in FIG. 13. Plug the device into the power plug, turn on the switch, and turn on the power and heat. After heating, press the arm 19 with your fingers, open the two halves of the clip, clip the hair in, and then close the two halves. After a suitable period of time, open the two halves again and take out the hair.
